About the Competition
As part of our centenary celebrations, CPRE Rutland & Lincolnshire is offering funding to help communities restore and repurpose traditional red telephone boxes across our region.
The iconic red telephone box is a beloved symbol of British heritage, and many still stand in our villages and countryside. This competition aims to give these structures a new lease of life while preserving their historical character.
We will fund up to 5 projects, with each receiving up to £1,000 towards restoration and conversion costs.
- Application Deadline: 1 July 2026
- Project Completion: 1 October 2026

Frequently Asked Questions
Who owns the telephone box?
Many telephone boxes have been adopted by parish councils or community groups through BT's Adopt a Kiosk scheme. Contact your parish council or check with BT to confirm ownership.

Yes, as long as there is still significant work to be completed. We will consider partially completed projects on a case-by-case basis.
When will I receive the funding?
Successful applicants will receive 50% of the funding upon approval and 50% upon completion of the project with photographic evidence.
Can I apply for more than one telephone box?
Yes, but each application will be assessed independently, and priority will be given to first-time applicants to maximise community coverage.
